There is something so magical about summer senior sessions, and Mackenzie’s senior portraits at Dewberry Farm in Kernersville, NC captured all the warmth, beauty, and personality you could hope for. From fields of golden sunflowers, to the farm’s signature red tractor, to the lush blooming gardens, every part of this location gave us the perfect backdrop to tell Mackenzie’s story.
The sunflower fields at Dewberry Farm were in full bloom during Mackenzie’s session, wrapping her in a glow that perfectly matched her bright personality. Sunflowers only bloom for a short window in the summer, so getting to photograph them at their peak was such a treat. These blooms symbolize positivity, growth, and new beginnings, making them the perfect backdrop for a high school senior preparing for her next chapter.
The iconic red tractor is such a fun prop at Dewberry Farm, and Mackenzie brought the sweetest touch of nostalgia with it. She included her childhood book, Little Red Tractor, which made the photos feel so personal and unique to her. It was such a fun way to weave in a part of her childhood, showing how those little pieces of who she is will always be a part of her story.
Mackenzie also carried her Bible to her session. Incorporating something so meaningful added a layer of depth to her portraits. These images represent her faith, values, and what truly matters to her as she steps into this milestone year. I love when seniors bring props that make their portraits personal, and Mackenzie did this so beautifully.
In addition to the sunflower fields, the gardens at Dewberry Farm gave us vibrant backdrops of summer color. Rustic fences, flower beds, and their adorable blue truck, created variety in Mackenzie’s gallery while keeping that soft, country feel. The light in the gardens gave her photos a natural glow that truly highlights her joyful personality.
What made Mackenzie’s session unforgettable was how much of her we were able to capture. From her favorite childhood book, to her faith, to the beautiful summer landscapes, every detail was woven together into portraits that will be treasured forever. Senior year is such a once-in-a-lifetime milestone, and your portraits should celebrate not just what you look like, but who you are.
Is your child a current 2026 or 2027 senior? Dewberry Farm is just one of the beautiful locations I love using for my clients. Dewberry is not only beautiful in the summer during sunflower season, but also in the fall and spring as well. You can find an example of their spring tulips here.
Flower season is short lived, and session availability is limited. If you’re looking for a senior photographer in High Point, Kernersville, or the Triad area, I’d love to create a session that feels just as personal and meaningful for you.
