Why giving your senior photographer love means more than you think!

Do you actually love your senior photos? Like the kind of love where you keep looking at them over and over and thinking, “Is that really me?” If so, there’s one small but powerful thing you can do that makes a big difference: show your photographer some love.

In my recent Instagram reel, I shared this reminder because, truthfully, we photographers pour so much into your images. There isn't one part of the process that's accidental. The energy brought to your session, the lighting and location, the posing is all planned. But the fuel behind all of it is the fire that comes from your gratitude. Your words matter more than you know.

There's Power Saying “Thank You”

A photographer's job is so much more than clicking a shutter. It’s stepping into your world for a moment, learning your story, and capturing it in a way that feels authentic and meaningful. When I hear that you love your photos, like really love them, my heart bursts.

Your words of gratitude keep my fire going. They reignite my passion on the hard days and remind me why I offer an experience that goes beyond the expected. When a mom tells me that she teared up looking at her daughter’s portraits, or a senior gasps seeing herself in images that showcase how the world views her, the time and energy behind the scenes make it all worth it.

The importance of tagging your photographer on your social media posts

When you share your portraits online and tag your photographer, not only are you giving credit but you're opening the door for someone else to fall in love with the images too.

Often, potential clients see your photos before they ever find my website. When someone is seeing your posts, they may pause and wonder who took your amazing photos. Tagging ensures they can follow that image back to the source. It’s how new client relationships begin, how stories get told, and how the next incredible photo session starts to take shape. Never underestimate the power of that little tag!

Results come from Your Reviews!

Did you know that your review isn't just a pat on the back? While I love seeing you put out into the world how happy you are with the experience at Kelli Gowdy Photography, that review actually helps to drive more traffic my way. When a potential client is searching for a senior photographer, they’re reading those reviews to make sure they're making a sound investment. They then hop over to my website to see if my imagery matches the style they're looking for in portraits. The process has begun, but without that review, They may never have considered me for their photography needs.

Your words are the bridge that connects me with the next mom who wants an intentional, high-end experience for her senior. So if you love your images, your story might be the reason another family gets to love theirs too.

3 Simple Ways to Show the Love

Leave a Google review
It’s easy, fast, and incredibly impactful. Share what you loved most about your session and how the final images made you feel.

Tag and share on social media
When you post your photos and tag me, you’re giving your friends a peek into what a custom senior experience really looks like. Word of mouth is still a driving factor in bringing me new clients, but social media is super impactful too!

Refer your people
Tell your friends, your coworkers, your neighbors. The best compliment I can receive is when someone new walks through my door and says, “You photographed my friend’s daughter and we absolutely loved her images.”

Some final thoughts...

If you love your photos, say it. Don’t keep that joy to yourself.

  • Leave the review.
  • Share the post.
  • Send the text.

Your gratitude isn’t just kindness, its meaningful and it's powerful. It fuels small businesses like mine, brings in new clients, and keeps me inspired to keep creating images that matter.
